10 Artsy Things to do Around Town in May

Stage & Screen Studios presents “Willy Wonka”. Roald Dahl recreates the childhood story of Charlie Bucket and four other golden ticket winners as they enter a mystical candy world. Showing on May 4 from 7:00 to 8:30 pm.
Under the Same Sky explores the deeper meaning of how we are all connected by soil, soul, and society. Inspired by the book “Soil, Soul, and Society: A New Trinity for our Time, artists Maureen S. Farrell and Kellee Wynne Conrad use their artwork to provoke the viewer to think about their relationship to the earth and one another. On display Monday and Wednesday through Friday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm at Quiet Waters Park.
DoART with Muddy Creek Artists on May 16 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at Deale Elks Lodge. Grab a friend, sip on something good, and paint as art educator, Ruth Bailey, leads a special lesson teaching you a new way to have fun with paint.
“The ART of Story Telling: A Narrative Show” is a unique exhibit that uses visual art to tell a story. The show opens with a reception to meet the artists on May 6 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. The public can enjoy the exhibit through June 24.
A Brush with Nature by the Annapolis Watercolor Club Group Show is at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts. This exhibit includes subject of wildlife, sea life, birds, beasts, flowers, and landscapes. It is open to the public Monday through Saturday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.
The Maryland Society of Portrait Painters All Members Exhibit will be at the Galleries at Quiet Waters Park Mondays and Wednesdays through Fridays from May 23 through June 8 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. A wide variety of media will be on display including oils, pastels, charcoal, pencil, and sculpture.
The Anne Arundel Community College Dance Company performs “Spring Migration,” an eclectic and creative dance on Friday, May 4 and Saturday, May 5 at 8:00 pm.
Juried Student Art Show features work of art in all media types by Anne Arundel Community College (AACC) students. The show will be held in the Cade Center for Fine Arts Gallery at AACC from April 23 through May 24.
St. John’s College Community Art Exhibition 2018 will be open April 29 through May 13. This annual exhibition features a various collection of ceramics, drawings, prints, sculptures, textiles, and more.
New Homeland by Sunhee Kim, a Korean born American artist, will be at the Annapolis City Hall Art Gallery from April 23 through May 31. Her work has been in numerous embassies and galleries in Europe and Asia. The opening reception will be held on April 23 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm.
